Medical Donations

Sometimes it’s something simple, like syringes or a few pairs of glasses. Other times, it is a rare medication that must be shipped from overseas. Since its inception in 1999, JHI has provided its host communities with pharmaceuticals and medical equipment valued at over $600,000. Many of these supplies are donated and then JHI is able to distribute them. But JHI also relies on monetary contributions in order to provide medical supplies to the hospitals, clinics, and individual patients in the communities who have come to rely on JHI.

JHI also welcomes the donation of medical equipment, prescription and over-the counter drugs as well as various other items, such as computers, slide projectors, overhead projectors, PowerPoint projectors, reusable textiles (sheets, hospital gowns, adult diapers, etc…), and durable medical goods (wheel chairs, crutches, adaptive equipment, and prosthetics). All of the above listed donations can only be accepted with prior approval from Dr. Stephen Kutner, Medical Director of JHI. We can only accept donations of equipment and goods that have been requested by the communities we serve. For donations of medical equipment, we will need to know the name of the product, condition, expiration date (if applicable), size and weight. For donations of prescription and over-the counter drugs, we will need to know the name of the product (both the name brand and generic-chemical composition), place of manufacture, expiration date, quantity, and dosage. For all other donations, we will need a general description of the item, quantity, and condition.
